Our Approach
Current web standards guide our approach to create lean, search-engine friendly sites that are easier to maintain and modify over time. We focus on creating sites that are informative, quick loading, professional looking and easy to use, with powerful applications to meet specific client needs.
Potential clients typically approach us after hearing about our work from other clients or after visiting our web site and exploring other sites we've created. After initial conversations to see if we and the client are a good fit in regard to expertise, timelines and working styles, we and the client sign a Web Site Design and Maintenance Agreement, which describes our general working relationship. We then assign a project lead to serve as the main point of contact.
Specific project tasks, costs and timelines are summarized in one or more work orders, depending on the scope of the project.
An important first step for a potential client is to fill out a site-planning questionnaire. This questionnaire prompts clients to address several issues they may not have considered, and to articulate these to us for guidance during the development process. Topics include their goals for the site, the intended audience(s) and their desired actions, planned content and design preferences.
For larger projects, we start with a discovery phase work order to flesh out the many details related to the project. We work with you to figure out the best solutions to help you use your web site to make a difference, all within budget. Upon completion, we are then able to provide a specific cost estimate for the second phase, implementation.
We then build and test the web site based on the feedback received during the discovery phase. This may include testing on various browsers/devices, validating code, and testing accessibility requirements.
Once development is complete, we also can provide site maintenance. We prepare a work order indicating that we will provide maintenance and any related services at the request of the client and bill at our hourly rate only for hours worked.
