Securely Managing Patient Information

The center researches and treats couples who experience recurrent miscarriages, multiple pregnancy losses or repeated in vitro fertilization failures. This small private medical office needed assistance in a few key areas including

• Conveying a highly scientific subject in an easy to understand, easy to access manner to their current and potential patients, as well as other medical providers;
• A secure intranet to support certain office function; and
• A way for patients to securely register and keep their information up-to-date, as well as access information from the doctors and staff pertaining to their own test results and treatments.

To help address their needs, we built a web site rich in content. Not only are easy to understand informational articles available, but links to indexed scientific publications are also provided. A secure intranet allows staff to schedule patient appointments; review and approve new patient registrations that have been submitted online; create patient informational, testing and treatment letters using time-saving templates and checkboxes that once created, are immediately available to the patient; review test results uploaded by lab and create results letters for patients using time-saving templates and checkboxes, again, made available to patients online; securely correspond with patients via e-mail and a web-based interface; and upload patient records to attach to patient's online registration.

Patients have been given a secure area where they can register online, and keep their medical and contact information up-to-date; submit questions to doctors and staff, as well as view responses to their questions; view informational, testing and treatment letters created for them by their doctors and staff; view information specific to registered patients.
